As the title states, this area resembles a slaughter house; looking inside the buildings at the center should make this obvious as there is meat everywhere. A couple of train cars can be found outside by the tracks leading west. You can find ammo piles and health supplies in this area, as well as a Car and an Assault Truck. If you start the game in this area, you'll also be able to find a diamond briefcase. If you didn't start the game here, you'll be able to find (and rescue) a buddy - he (or she) is located in a room inside the largest building.
